NFL draft 2017: When should we expect the 1st round to end?

The 2017 NFL draft will begin this evening at 8 p.m. ET, but when will it end?

In the first round, each team has 10 minutes to make their selection. So in theory, the latest the event could go would be until 1:10 a.m. ET.

Authentic Womens Jace Amaro Jersey Houstons also arguably the best spot for a rookie QB to land, given that the team made the playoffs a year earlier, already has weapons on offense, and might have the NFLs best defensive player in JJ Watt. Watsons set up to keep winning.

Deshaun Watson draft profile from Shakin the Southland:

Deshaun Watson is without a doubt the most NFL ready quarterback in this draft. If nothing else helps his case, his blend of poise and elite play in big games sets him apart from all other quarterbacks in this draft. Not to mention, he has won three times as many college football games as Mitchell Trubisky has played in. Oh, it also doesnt hurt that he torched the notorious Alabama defense two years in a row.

The Seahawks need tackles, and they get a good one in the first round with Garrett Bolles. Taking Ahkello Witherspoon in the second with other, more pressing needs, seems less than ideal, but Witherspoon does have the length and frame Pete Carroll covets in a cornerback. The rest of Kipers selections — defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, outside linebacker Tim Williams, and defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson — are smart choices for Seattle.

Providence and California are both far from mid-major programs

All of this is why Miles Bridges surprise announcement that hes putting the NBA on hold for at least another year wasnt just a major win for Michigan State, it was a major win for college basketball.

Bridges isnt the first potential lottery pick in recent memory to shock the sports world by electing to play one more season of college basketball. Kris Dunn of Providence made a similar decision two years ago, and so did Cals Ivan Rabb last year.

Still, this is different.
Aqib Talib Authentic Jersey
Providence and California are both far from mid-major programs, but neither demands the same level of annual attention as Tom Izzos Spartans. Also, while Dunn and Rabb are both exceptionally gifted players who will be paid big-time money to play basketball for a very long time, neither has the human-highlight-reel gene that Bridges does.

Green said the NFLs central officiating hub was making their opinion known to the referee from league headquarters far more during the previous two seasons than in the past. In a time when Jackie Robinson the player continues to get further and further from our collective memory, celebrating his legacy is vital to the game of baseball. But even more importantly, Robinson’s legacy continues to inspire people to make a difference in the world.

In essence, they were pretty much making those decisions before, Green said. Its not that big a change. To the extent we can speed things up I think thats a positive.

Tiebreakers and lottery loom

The 2017 NBA Draft order is set … almost. We still need a few ties to be settled by coin flip and there is of course the NBA Draft lottery to look forward to on May 16. That’s where the top 14 picks in the June draft will be determined by random drawing.

Otherwise, most teams know where they will pick in June. It’s been easy for me to get caught up in the Mountain West’s rising ceiling during this preview series. I like what Colorado State might become (we already saw the Rams become it for a good chunk of last season), I think Utah State will bounce back, Wyoming should be solid, at least one of Air Force or New Mexico should be solid, and I see Hawaii, UNLV, Fresno State, and SJSU improving at least a little. The MWC is in better shape than it has been for a while.

I also believe, of the two, Harris has a better shot at making it in the NFL as a 4-3 defensive end, whereas Williams is likely only going to work as a 3-4 outside linebacker.

But Harris will also need to bulk up with just a 6’3, 253-pound frame. He still managed to be a pass-rushing force for the Tigers, despite frequent double-teams and plays run away from him.

He may be just a situational guy who plays only on passing downs as a rookie, but I feel he can develop into a solid 4-3 defensive end. It’s also possible he becomes a hybrid player that lines up at end and at outside linebacker.

Analysis: This is one of my favorite picks of this mock draft. You can strongly argue for Harris beginning with the Dallas Cowboys at pick No. 28 in the first round. To get him at No. 41 is an incredible value. Although Harris may start his career as a pass rush specialist, he’s the type of player the Bengals need.

Student with head start in footrace beats Mizzou DB DeMarkus Acy

Elite Kids Marcus Gilchrist Jersey
Mizzou had a little contest for fan engagement during halftime of their spring game. Defensive back DeMarkus Acy got in his stance to run a 40-yard dash, while four Missouri students did the same with a seven-yard head start.

Adam Humphries Youth Jersey The student said his name was Jevon White, and he was brief when told by a reporter that he outran Acy.

Yeah … I thought he was gonna come up on me, but i just ran. Having swung and missed at draft gems like Holloway and Love the year before, Belichick and Co. moved up to grab their tight end of the future, Daniel Graham. Graham was a solid athlete whose breakout senior season at Colorado helped him rise up draft boards. To acquire him with the 21st pick, the Patriots gave up the 32nd (Patrick Ramsey), 96th (Dorsett Davis, later traded), and 234th (Greg Scott) selections. This would have been a windfall for Washington had it not spent those selections on a garbage plate headlined by Ramsey.

Despite Acys claimed 40 time of 4.42 as a high school athlete (and with the understanding that Acy was in pads) he gets beat by the fellow Mizzou student who can really fly. Acy certainly closed the gap, but White had about three yards on him by the time they got to the goal line.

White said he had experience as a track runner and it really showed. Maybe the Tigers can get him to suit up on Saturdays.

Last season was Suns coach Earl Watson’s first full season on the bench.

The team gathered Monday for the start of the workouts. “I feel great,” Carr said. “I’ve been running, jumping, throwing, cutting, everything. So I’m ready to rock. I’m ready to do absolutely everything. I did everything my teammates did today. I’ll do everything my teammates will do tomorrow.

Geneo Grissom Authentic Jersey “I’m truly blessed that it wasn’t worse. It could have been a lot worse, and it wasn’t, so I’m very thankful for that and just keep praying for the guys who, that day, had the same kind of injury and still going through it.”

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota and Seattle Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett both suffered broken right fibulas on the same day.

Carr, who helped lead the Raiders to a 12-3 start and the franchise’s first playoff appearance since the 2002 season, passed for 3,937 yards while completing 63.68 percent of his passes with 28 touchdowns and six interceptions for a passer rating of 96.7. He finished tied with Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott for third in NFL MVP voting.

“The West is brutal. It’s hard to crack that [playoff] group. That’s kind of the way it has been in the Western Conference, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. We’re going to try and win as many games as we can and be as competitive as we can. We’ll see how the dust settles, but we’ll probably set making the playoffs as our goal again next year.”?

Kids Austin Rivers Jersey Last season was Suns coach Earl Watson’s first full season on the bench. Watson, who has two seasons left on his contract, has proven popular with Suns players, despite Phoenix’s on-court struggles.

Moving hockey to the Summer Olympics would be in the NHL’s best interest

Elite Kids Roberto Alomar Jersey What if I told you that hockey originally started in the Olympics as a part of the summer games? It’s true! Hockey originated at the Olympic Games during the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium.

The sport then lasted just one Olympiad in the summer before being permanently moved to the winter games for the next near century. Technically, it wasn’t even summer when hockey debuted. The tournament was played ahead of the rest of the games, from April 23 to 29. Sportsnet’s piece is a real interesting read, if you have the time for it.

So with the news that the NHL is skipping out on the 2018 Winter Olympics, it’s hard not to wonder the “what-ifs” of the whole situation. We have you covered on the logistics of the short-term reality for the NHL and it’s players. But, what about the long -term?

The thought occurred to me yesterday, but it’s one that deserves a deeper dive. What if hockey were to move back to the Summer Olympics? It’s not as far-fetched as you’d think.

Allen is on pace for a 900-yard season after failing to start the first few games of the year, and he has been paired with veteran Eddie Royal — an end zone threat who has been hauling in passes. Tight end Antonio Gates has also returned to form, rounding out a dangerous offense.

Finding quality pass rushers has been this team’s problem. There are a lot of capable players who are able to generate pressure, but the Chargers lack a signature threat offenses need to key on. This likely would have been second-year linebacker Melvin Ingram, but losing him to injury gave San Diego a lack of defensive depth.

Canada really bounced back this season

Hoo, boy, let’s start with the extremes. It’s always a good idea to be skeptical of big win or loss totals. The Cubs at 95? games seems awfully optimistic … yet it’s nearly an eight-game drop from last year. The Dodgers have won four straight division titles, and they’re favorites for a fifth … but they’ve beat that win total just once in the last four seasons, even with the division titles. They’ve won 94 games or more just twice since winning their last World Series*.

That Calder Trophy we mentioned? Yeah, Laine’s likely going to win that. Maybe. It’s really more of a tossup. But still! Laine is tied for the NHL scoring lead with 61 points with Toronto’s rookie sensation, though Laine has done it in seven fewer games.

No one’s really sure now who will get the Calder, but it’s sure got to mean more to Laine in a year where the Jets are no longer contending. And even if he doesn’t win, Laine’s cemented himself as an offensive player to watch for years to come.

Plus, Laine was at the centerpiece of sparking a rivalry flame between two young, talented teams. Canada really bounced back this season, eh?

In the end, and moving past any individual strengths or weaknesses of the shows, it looks very much like RAW and SmackDown are intended for two very different audiences. RAW features storylines and matches and production that largely fits the soap-opera-with-fists nature of wrestling that many mainstream fans or more casual fans expect from WWE, where SmackDown is catered a bit more to the “hardcore” fans who like more quality in-ring work and a bit more edge to the stories being told than they typically find on RAW.

The NCAA’s 4 biggest titles are all currently held by the Carolinas

Rene Robert Authentic Jersey
We came pretty close to having the champions in college sports’ four most popular competitions all come from the same state, with South Carolina making the men’s Final Four and winning the women’s. But North Carolina’s redemption thriller over Gonzaga still means all of Cook Out country* is walking tall.

None of that matters right now to anyone in Chapel Hill or anyone who bleeds baby blue. All that matters is that the highlight of Kris Jenkins beating the buzzer isn’t going to cut quite as deeply anymore. All that matters is that order has been restored to North Carolina’s basketball universe.

Despite its build-up as a titanic showdown between two very different No. 1 seeds, North Carolina-Gonzaga was never able to attain any semblance of flow. At times it was the incessant whistling from an officiating crew that did not have a good night, and at times it was simply a pair of teams unable to put the ball in the basket with enough frequency to please the viewing public. UNC was a woeful 4-of-27 on three-point shots, while Gonzaga countered by hitting just 33.9 percent of its shots from the field.

Brennan has spent most of his career as either a receivers coach, recruiting coordinator, or both. His single year as co-coordinator is his only experience at that level, and now he takes the reins of a program. It always feels risky when you’re asking a guy to skip a rung or two.

Still, Fleck and WMU proved it can work. Will it for the Spartans? And even if it does, can it work with what Brennan is inheriting — high-caliber, unproven athletes in the skill positions, major experience on the offensive line and in the secondary, and a brand new quarterback — or, like Fleck, will he have to strip the house down to the studs?

They said he didn’t bring it on every down. They said he wore down late in games. They said his health would be an issue. What they forgot to mention was what a high percentage of his team’s snaps he played, how versatile he was, or how consistently he dominated the point of attack.

Despite Atlanta’s offensive woes and New Orleans’ defensive success, the trends say to bet the over. The total has gone over in four of the Saints’ last five games and four of their last six road games. Atlanta’s contests have also hit the over more often than not lately, partially due to defensive struggles. The total has hit in six of Atlanta’s last nine games and six of its last seven home games.
Authentic Womens Kendall Langford Jersey
When compared head-to-head, however, the total has gone under in four of the last six meetings between the two teams. New Orleans has held an advantage over the Falcons recently, winning five of the last six head-to-head contests. The Saints were also 5-1 ATS during that stretch.

New Orleans looks like the obvious pick on paper, and if recent history holds true the Saints aren’t a bad bet to cover the spread either. There are some concerns, especially with New Orleans being forced to travel, play on a short week and following a physical contest against San Francisco. There is also the possibility the Saints could overlook the Falcons, especially with a huge Monday night showdown at Seattle coming up next week. Even with those factors, New Orleans has everything to play for while the Falcons are simply playing for pride at this point.
