Tampa is expected to cut Doug Martin and his $5.7 million cap hit this offseason

Finishing just ahead of the Vikings in terms of yards per touch were the Giants, who have already jettisoned veteran Rashad Jennings this offseason. New York went with a platoon approach last fall and struggled, putting the clamps on an otherwise impressive 11-5 season. Lacy could help, but second-year back Paul Perkins is primed to step into a leading role after finishing the 2016 season on a high note. Bringing in a back like Lacy could adversely affect his development.

Tampa is expected to cut Doug Martin and his $5.7 million cap hit this offseason, leaving a big hole in the lineup next to Jameis Winston. Martin was impressively ineffective last season, rushing for just 2.9 yards per carry on a team with few other reliable options at tailback. Lacy would legitimize the Bucs¡¯ rushing attack and take some pressure from Winston¡¯s shoulders in the process.

Authentic Womens Le’Veon Bell Jersey That is the only rational explanation I can come up with for why he was sitting down in his back peddle and was about to allow Andre Holmes to run right by him on a fade route before Ryan arm barred him and drew the pass interference flag. Before you look at me like I’m crazy, it was blatant, and even Ryan didn’t argue about it. He was about to be toast and he knew it so he did what he had to do.

Instead of getting cute, they decided to go smash mouth and run what was essentially a split belly, sending one back to block the backside defensive end on the right while the offensive line zone blocked to the left. Darren McFadden basically walked into the end zone. All they needed to do was kick the extra point and now they at least probably have a chance in overtime.

In the tradition of my “The Mariners will regret signing Nelson Cruz” prediction, which was shockingly prescient, the Mariners will regret trading for Yovani Gallardo, who walked three and gave up two hits in his only spring appearance, allowing four earned runs.

Philip Rivers regrets ‘not winning it all’ in San Diego

Philip Rivers spoke at the San Diego Hall of Champions dinner Tuesday night for the first time as the quarterback of the Los Angeles Chargers.

At the dinner to honor teammate Nick Hardwick, an emotional Rivers said he was disappointed he couldn’t bring a championship to San Diego before the team moved to L.A.

Bell missed most of the Steelers’ loss to the New England Patriots due to a groin injury. The dual-threat back told NFL Network earlier this month that he had been dealing with the injury before the AFC Championship game.

“People don’t understand I was kind of fighting that through the playoffs,” Bell said. “I really hurt it in the Miami game. I played through the whole Kansas City game with it. The beginning of the Patriots game, I felt it.”

The NFL is considering whether the Steelers improperly withheld Bell’s groin injury from injury reports.

Not having to undergo surgery is a great sign for the free-agent-to-be. The Steelers are likely to use the franchise tag on Bell before the March 1 deadline while the sides attempt to hammer out a long-term contract that could set the running back market pay scale.

I particularly enjoy the aggrieved defender’s bewildered glance at the floor moments after his fall. No sir, that is no wet spot on the court — those are tiny bone fragments from both of your ankles.

And shoutout to Gurley for ending the play with the deuce. As anyone who’s played in competitive gym hoops can attest, the majority of amateur slasher types have no ability to finish. Your crossover don’t mean jack unless you put the rock in the hole.

DeSean Jackson says Eagles reunion could be a ‘great story’

DeSean Jackson will become a free agent in March, and it sounds like he wouldn¡¯t mind returning to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jackson appeared on a recent episode of Adam Schefter¡¯s Know Them from Adam podcast, and he recognizes it would be a ¡°great story¡± if he returned to the Eagles for the next phase of his career.

Jimmy Garoppolo Womens Jersey ¡°Starting your career somewhere and obviously going to a division rival team and having the possibility of maybe going back,¡± Jackson said. ¡°I mean, you kind of just think about all of that, where you started from and maybe where you want to finish it.¡±

Jackson wants to play for a team with a great quarterback, and he thinks Carson Wentz fits the bill. He said the NFC East as a whole has good quarterbacks, and he thinks the Eagles are in a good spot with Wentz, who impressed Jackson with his play in his rookie season.

¡°That was a gutsy call for the organization to really believe in a young guy like that who just came out of college and give him that shot,¡± Jackson said. ¡°I think he killed it. He was lights out, had a heck of a year. He definitely showed me he can do it and he has all the intangibles of being a big-time quarterback in this league.¡±

Blount is coming off of a career season in New England, with 299 carries for 1,161 yards and 18 touchdowns, not to mention a Super Bowl victory. Both Dion Lewis and James White are under contract with the Patriots through the 2017 season on affordable deals.

Chargers, Raiders propose shared NFL stadium in Carson

Davon House Limited Jersey
The San Diego (for now) Chargers and Oakland (for now) Raiders have issued a joint statement about a proposed shared stadium in Carson, CA. There are several bullet points addressing various issues, but the meat of it is this:

“We are pursuing this stadium option in Carson for one straightforward reason: If we cannot find a permanent solution in our home markets, we have no alternative but to preserve other options to guarantee the future economic viability of our franchises.”
Game Kids Tony Esposito Jersey Basically, what they’re telling their home markets is that if they don’t get a sweetheart stadium deal, they’re prepared to leave. That means if Oakland and San Diego don’t open the coffers, their current tenants are prepared to privately finance in Carson.

The franchises also made it a point to stress that they’ve worked directly with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on this and to remind everyone (but mostly Stan Kroenke) of the 3/4 vote required by teams to move a franchise.

This isn’t a done deal by any stretch, but the race to Los Angeles appears to be on and Chargers and Raiders look like they are in the lead for the moment.

The pregame scene was just another in a weekend full of them showcasing the tension between Westbrook and Durant. At the Saturday “practice” — loose quotes at that — as the Western All-Stars were announced, they gathered at midcourt, each player running through the line dapping each other up. Durant was the second player out, behind Stephen Curry, and as Westbrook had his name called a few players after, Durant was sitting back on a table by himself as Westbrook ran out. The feeling in the practice locker room was described as “painfully quiet and uncomfortable.” In the subsequent mixed-zone media availability, Durant walked by Westbrook as the two appeared to strain so as not to make eye contact.

Jake Arrieta hopes for extension but mindful of how contract talks work

Jake Arrieta is hopeful to remain a Cub beyond 2017 but knows how the business of baseball works. He’s trying to keep his focus on getting ready for this season as he enters his free-agent year — the first for a high-profile player from the defending world champions.

“Time flies quickly,” Arrieta said Wednesday morning from Cubs camp. “It feels like only a few months ago that I was traded over here and starting my career as a Cub. I’ve had some incredible experiences with this organization. I owe a lot to this team, this organization, this ownership. I don’t want to see that time come to an end, but unfortunately the business side shows its head every once in a while. I still think there is opportunity and chances we can have good conversations as far as an extension is concerned.”

One writer called it the last great American sports story. No doubt, the narrative we saw last fall was a tale for the history books. Television ratings for the World Series skyrocketed to their highest numbers in 25 years. Strangers hugged. Cleveland wept. Chicago held a parade that had the city bursting like a Macy’s store two days before Christmas.

“He was pulling off the ball,” says one longtime scout. “When you see a hitter do that, they’re going for the home runs more than the hits. He was overcompensating and looking for the fastball, which made it hard for him to handle the breaking ball. The patience and the discipline weren’t quite the same, and he certainly didn’t stay in on left-handers as well as he did previously. They caused him a lot more problems than I’d ever seen. It was a trying year for Bryce.”

Jahlil Okafor rejoins the 76ers after they couldn’t find a trade for him

Okafor thought he would be traded after he stopped traveling with the team. He’s still in Philly, though.

Jahlil Okafor has rejoined the Philadelphia 76ers and is available for Wednesday’s game against the Boston Celtics, according to Philly.com’s Keith Pompey. His return comes after there was a breakdown in trade discussions, according to Pompey, and the 76ers are not as certain to deal their second-year big man as they were in recent weeks.

The bizarre turn of events comes after Okafor was seen shaking hands with Philadelphia staff members as trade talks progressed just a week ago. He did not travel with the team for their past two road games at Charlotte and at Miami. Instead, the Sixers left him home with head coach Brett Brown telling reporters, “Jahlil Okafor’s situation is transparent. He’s in the middle of being discussed in trade scenarios.”

The New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls were teams considered to be interested in the center’s services, and Hoopshype’s Alex Kennedy reported the Trail Blazers and Nuggets were also in discussions. Now, it appears the 76ers have only one serious trade suitor in the Pelicans, who are attaching Alexis Ajinca’s contract to any deal they make.

“It starts with me,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said after the loss. “I don’t point fingers. I look in the mirror. I look right square in the mirror and I figure out what I can do better and I’m already thinking about that right now. You can’t have the offense where it’s at in this league and expect to win a championship and so we’ve got to figure it out, we’ve got to improve.”

Does a chef with two Michelin stars actually eat hot dogs?

Why not? Generally, people usually think fine-dining chefs eat that kind of food all the time. But hot dogs are great. We try to control how much mustard is on it, how much relish, create those bites that I find are the perfect balance. You taste the bun, the hot dog, the mustard, the relish. The chili dog is also really good.

What is your take on the direction stadium food has taken?

Gabe Jackson Authentic Jersey I think food culture in America has completely evolved. Everyone expects more from food, and the arenas want people to stay and eat there. But with everything going on outside of them, the competition is steep.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft is friends with President Donald Trump. This is nothing new. In the last few days they were seen together at Mar-a-Lago dining with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, while Trump himself often comments on their relationship.

So naturally, the topic of New England players opting to skip the team’s pending trip to the White House is a rather awkward one for Kraft to approach.

On the TODAY show, he was forced to do just that — asked by Matt Lauer about his friendship with the president and his employees’ decision to pass on meeting him.

“Have you seen Scott Hastings walk?” Rivers asks, referring to his longtime Atlanta Hawks teammate.

Rather than ask players to fight through injuries, Rivers has given days off to Griffin, Paul and J.J. Redick at various points in the season. After dropping two games heading into a Nov. 29 matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, Rivers gave Griffin a DNP-rest, the first in franchise history before the calendar turned to January. The Clippers lost that game in double overtime, yet Rivers was undeterred. Whatever increases the chances that the team won’t break down again come playoff time.

“I hear people griping about guys missing games, and the fans have a gripe because they’re paying for tickets,” Rivers says. “But at the end of the day, it’s really important for long-term health and for team health that we do the right thing. I mean, it’s all kinds of s— that I wish I had.”

Authentic Alex Boone Jersey Atlanta built a 28-3 lead on the strength of four different players scoring touchdowns, including an 82-yard interception return by Robert Alford. But Tom Brady and the Patriots scored 19 unanswered fourth-quarter points to send the first Super Bowl ever to overtime. Brady improved to 3-4 ATS in Super Bowls by leading a TD drive on the opening possession of overtime. The game went over the total of 57.

Denver entered the game 1-3 ATS as an underdog in the Super Bowl, but the Broncos’ defense was dominant, forcing four Carolina turnovers. A fumble by quarterback Cam Newton set up a late Denver touchdown (and two-point conversion) to cap a 24-10 Broncos victory. The game stayed well under the total of 43.5.

He was bewildered by the Kings’ unwillingness to lead a coordinated front to discipline him. To Karl, Cousins’ behavior was sucking the franchise’s entire reserve of energy — affecting the performance of the entire roster.
